History
Diablo Clinical Research conducts research studies involving
potential new treatments for a variety of health conditions.
Clinical research also looks at new ways of using known treatments.
Our areas of expertise include:
Our Founder
Dr. Richard L. Weinstein,
a board certified endocrinologist and internist who has practiced
medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area for 30 years, directs
our research facility.
Diablo Clinical Research, established by Dr. Weinstein over
a decade ago, has conducted over 450 studies with thousands
of patients. Today our database is comprised of over 10,000
patients who have either completed a study with us, are currently
enrolled in a study, or have expressed interest in future
clinical study participation.
Our Studies
Our research studies are all overseen and regulated by Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), or the National Institute of Health (NIH) to ensure your health and well being are protected and preserved. We are dedicated to providing safe, top quality
care to our patients, and clean, reliable data to our sponsoring
companies.
Our team of physicians come from many areas of expertise
including endocrinology,
cardiology, and internal
medicine.
Phase I
Our dedicated Phase I unit opened in 2004, expanding our research capabilities to include overnight studies. Our 4-bed facility specializes in both Phase IA and IB studies where the drug is being tested in the target population. Our areas of study include metabolic syndrome, diabetes, lipids, obesity and hypertension. Examples of our most recent studies involving the newest research in diabetes include islet cell regeneration and preservation, device studies, and new anti-diabetic treatments focusing on type 2 diabetic complications: glucose control, lipid reduction, water retention, and weight gain.
Physician Alliance
Our treatment areas are extended by a local Physician Alliance. Specialists in our community including a cardiologist, neurologist, obstetrician/ gynecologist, psychiatrist, pulmonologist/sleep specialist and a rheumatologist work in partnership with our site on clinical studies. The alliance physicians function as principal investigators, sub-investigators and consultants on studies we are conducting in their area of expertise.
Participation
There are many reasons why you might consider getting involved with a clinical research study. We believe the primary reason is that participating in a research study today could contribute to healthier, more productive lives for you and generations to come by helping to bring new and innovative health care products to market for use by the general population.
