Alzheimers

Over 5 million people in the U.S are living with Alzheimer's disease. It is the most common form of dementia. It is a general term for memory loss and loss of other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Over time, Alzheimer's disease gradually destroys a person's ability to learn and carry out daily activities such as talking, eating, and going to the bathroom. As the disease progresses, individuals may also experience changes in personality and behavior.

Unfortunately, there are no cures for Alzheimer's disease and there is no way to predict how fast someone will progress through the stages of the disease. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 50 to 70 percent of dementia cases. Alzheimer's gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States.
